Advocate Orange for Small Cats (Up to 4kg)

Product Description

Advocate Orange for Small Cats (Up to 4kg) is a monthly top-spot that covers almost every parasite of concern in cats including ear mites, fleas, intestinal worms, lice and heartworm.

Advocate for Cats is parasite protection for cats in the most convenient form available. Used monthly and applied to the skin on the back of the neck, Advocate treats and kills ear mites, roundworm, hookworm, whipworm, heartworm, fleas and lice. It can be used in kittens from 9 weeks of age. Advocate contains two active ingredients. The first helps tackle those troublesome worms that infect cats. Some of these worms can also affect people (roundworms and hookworms), so parasite protection is important, particularly if you have young children at home. As an added precaution, always ask your children to wash their hands after playing with the furry members of the household.

The second active ingredient in Advocate for cats kills adult fleas and flea larvae, effectively breaking the flea life-cycle and reducing the chance of flea-borne diseases in your cat such as tapeworm, the organism that causes cat scratch fever in humans (Bartonella henselae) and feline infectious anaemia (Mycoplasma haemofelis). Fleas also lead to dermatitis in cats, which is another great reason to implement effective flea control. The toxin in Advocate that kills fleas is absorbed through the body of the flea, so it does not rely on your pet getting bitten. Fleas should stop biting within 5 minutes of absorbing the toxin and will be killed within 20 minutes. Overall 98-100% of fleas are killed within 12 hours of first application. Cats are also prone to developing ear mites, causing significant discomfort, scratching and often requiring lengthy Veterinary treatment if the infection is established. Advocate also prevents and treats ear mites in cats. Advocate is a very safe product, and has been tested at 10 x the regular dose with no significant adverse reactions. The product is water fast, so long as it dries on the coat before bathing your cat. It has not been tested in pregnant or lactating animals, so use in breeding animals is not recommended. Do you have more than one cat? Are they different sizes? Don't stress, we carry the complete Advocate range for cats. From very small kittens to large cats, we've got your feline friends flea and parasite prevention needs covered.

Why Should I Choose Advocate Orange for Small Cats?

  • Stops fleas from biting within 5 minutes and kills 98-100% of fleas in 12 hours
  • Advocate for cats controls ear mites, heartworm, fleas, lice, roundworm and hookworm
  • Advocate is great for cats that are resistant to tablets of any kind
  • Advocate is safe for use in kittens from 9 weeks of age

When Should I Use Something Else?

  • You should get a heartworm test from your Vet if you live in an area where heartworm is prevalent and you have not previously used a heartworm preventative in your pet
  • Advocate should not be used in kittens less than 9 weeks of age
  • The safety of Advocate has not been tested in pregnant or lactating cats

What else do I need?

Advocate for cats does not prevent ticks, so if you do live in a paralysis tick area, consider the use of Frontline spray (combined with Profender) during tick season or perform a tick search daily. Cats are very efficient groomers and will usually remove ticks before they cause a problem. They are also less susceptible to tick paralysis compared to dogs, but it is still important to be cautious, particularly if you live near coastal bushland. If your cat goes outside and hunts or you have large numbers of fleas (for example due to a break in flea control) we also recommend treating tapeworm, ideally every 3 months. Tapeworm is spread by fleas and can also be ingested due to hunting behaviour.
