Interceptor Spectrum Orange for Very Small Dogs (Up to 4kg)

Product Description

Interceptor Spectrum Orange for Very Small Dogs (Up to 4kg) is a monthly heartworm and intestinal wormer for dogs delivered in the form of delicious flavoured treat.

Many dogs are difficult to medicate when it comes to parasite control but Interceptor Spectrum is very easy to use and 94% of dogs will take it straight from the hand. The chew actually uses real chicken and really, what dog doesn’t like chicken. Unlike the popular top-spot medications Revolution and Advocate, Interceptor Spectrum will also kill tapeworm and can be used in puppies from 2 weeks of age. Interceptor Spectrum is safe to use during breeding and lactation, making it an excellent choice for dogs at any stage. Interceptor Spectrum has been safety tested to 10 x the normal dose, so if you do lose track of when you last gave a tablet, but you sure it has been within the last 6 months, just give the dose when you remember. If your dog has not been receiving heartworm preventatives for more than 6 months, you should get a heartworm test from your Vet before using Interceptor Spectrum, as the die-off of large numbers of microfilariae (the immature heartworms that live in the bloodstream of your dog) can cause a shock-like reaction. If it has been more than 3 months, but less than 6 months since you last gave a heartworm preventative, it is safe to use Interceptor Spectrum, however, you should get a heartworm test anyway as there is a chance your dog has contracted heartworm during that break in treatment. You must also continue using Interceptor Spectrum for it to be effective. Heartworm is a disease that is difficult to treat, but very easy to prevent. The prevalence varies depending on whether there are large numbers of untreated dogs nearby. It is spread by mosquitoes, so even dogs that are predominantly indoors can get heartworm disease. Due to the use of heartworm preventatives this fatal disease is rarely seen nowadays, however due to our warm climate and the prevalence of many different types of biting insects, it would not take much for a heartworm outbreak to occur and spread like wildfire. Intestinal worms are usually transmitted through faeces and dogs usually pick them by walking or sniffing around where other dogs have been. Any dog is at risk of intestinal parasites, even those pampered pooches that rarely set foot on the ground. Interceptor Spectrum is extremely safe (it has been safety tested at 10x the normal dose) and can be used in puppies from 2 weeks of age. Puppies should be wormed every 2 weeks from 2 weeks of age until 12 weeks, then monthly for life.

Why Should I Choose Interceptor Spectrum for Very Small Dogs?

  • Interceptor Spectrum can be used from 2 weeks of age
  • Around 94% of dogs will take Interceptor Spectrum like a treat
  • Interceptor Spectrum treats all intestinal worms and heartworm if given monthly
  • Interceptor Spectrum given monthly and combined with a flea treatment covers all the main parasites you need to worry about for your dog

When Should I Use Something Else?

  • Interceptor does not treat fleas or ticks and needs to be combined with another product like Advantix or Frontline Plus to provide complete parasite protection for your pet
  • If it has been more than 6 months since you used a heartworm treatment in your dog, you should first visit your Vet for a heartworm test first

What else do I need?

Interceptor Spectrum only treats heartworm and intestinal worms. You will also need a flea treatment such as Frontline, Comfortis or Advantix and if you are in a tick area you should use fortnightly Frontline or Advantix and tick search your dog daily to ensure they remain in tip top shape.
